Welcome to ISMAR 2012!

Become a Student Volunteer

The student volunteers keep running ISMAR smoothly. You must be enrolled for at least one semester during the academic semester before ISMAR. We need friendly responsive volunteers to help us out.

How to apply

We are no longer accepting new applications. We will choose the SVs based on the following criteria, and will notify you by email by September 7, 2012 if you are chosen as an SV. Please confirm with us by responding to our notification email by September 12, 2012. Once you have a confirmed spot and registration is open you will be required to register by September 19, 2012. You will lose your SV spot if you do not respond to notification email or register the conference within the timeframe mentioned above.

Selection Guidelines

Every year the conference receives a lot of worthy student volunteer applications, but the number of positions available is limited. The following considerations will influence selections:

  • Selection for presentation at ISMAR12.
  • Success as a student volunteer at previous ISMAR conference or other.
  • Preference is given to PhD, then masters, then undergraduate students though we encourage everyone to apply.
  • The number of volunteers from each region, institution and research group may be limited to ensure broad participation.

Work as a student volunteer

You will agree to a volunteer contract, in which you agree to:

  • Work at least 20 hours
  • Show up on time to tasks
  • Attend an orientation session
  • Arrive at the conference by November 4, 12pm at the latest

In return we commit to waive your registration fee. We provide student volunteers all of the other benefits received by registered conference attendees, including free lunch and break food. We will also have our fabulous SV thank-you party on Thursday night.

If you need to communicate to us, please do not hesitate to contact us through email We are looking forward to meeting all of you!
